#RPGaDAY 9: Favorite Die/Dice Set

Yellow, hand-inked Game Science dice.My favorite dice set is the one I never bought. Some months into Carrion Crown, after I’d been grumbling probably a little too loudly about rolling unnaturally poorly — because there’s true randomness, and then what feels random to people — I was delighted on my birthday to be presented with a set of Game Science polyhedrals, colored bright yellow to go with the Lego figures included with the dice. The game group had gone in together on the gift, and I was touched. I’ve used those polyhedrals as my primary dice ever since. The Lego figures are a little more specialty, as one has the sword of Iomedae painted on his back, and one is basically Indiana Jones, so I keep them in a place of pride at home, waiting for the day they can rejoin the fray

I’ve read over on RPG.net that Lou Zocchi has since sold off his dice business to retire, and the dice produced since then don’t meet the same level of quality. I hope that’s not the case, but I shall treasure mine all the more anyway. Maybe someday they’ll become as worn with fun as Theron’s.
